The maritime themed extension to the hotel includes 93 additional bedrooms and 6 suites and a new reception incorporating a five storey glass atrium with wall climbing lifts. The scheme included a health club with a 15 metre indoor heated swimming pool, whirlpool, steam bath, sauna and fitness suite. New corporate facilities were incorporated within the extension including a 200 delegate conference centre and nine meeting rooms.
A 21 metre high glazed atrium with wall climbing lifts and red polished granite tower provide a spectacular link between the new, highly contemporary extension and the original building.
The project also included over £2 million of refurbishment works to the original 19th century listed hotel, upgrading existing bedrooms and refurbishing the restaurant and bar. The completed scheme provides a 4 star hotel with a total of 138 bedrooms and suites a few minutes walk from the centre of Cardiff.
