Bailey Partnership provided architectural and interior design services to Interserve on this PFI contract. Our designers worked on 15 schools where an extensive programme of new build extensions, remodelling and refurbishment was rolled out in a series of phases over three years.

The PFI contract with Cornwall County Council covered schools in and around Truro and Penryn.  Each school had unique challenges including contemporary additions to listed buildings, bringing educational facilities up to date for the 21st century and providing dynamic learning environments utilising the original shell of 1970's buildings. Close liaison with the individual schools, the LEA and the PFI contractor has assured delivery of a high quality educational design. In addition, we reviewed surveys, advised on costs and the supply chain and undertook life cycle costing.

Example projects include Blackwater Primary School, a £2.5 million refurbishment and extension to create a new hall, entrance and teaching accommodation, Constantine Primary School, a £1.8 million refurbishment and extension and St Mary’s School, involving £1.6 million of alterations and extension.
