Bailey Partnership Chairs RICS Construction Policy Roundtable
Bailey Partnership is pleased to announce that Chris Caselton, RICS South West Regional Board member and QS Associate from our Bristol office has been invited to chair the RICS construction policy round table consultation for local members in the South West Region, to be held in Bristol.
As part of his on-going involvement with the Regional Board, Chris has been taking an active role in developing the South West region’s communications strategy in conjunction with RICS staff and this round table event is an essential part of developing greater links with the local membership.
The consultation is primarily aimed at SMEs, small practices and micro businesses operating at local and regional levels. It is these companies that the government sees as key to delivering growth.
RICS want to articulate the blockages that SMEs face in accessing the market, and suggest solutions to government. It is in the wider public interest for SMEs to access a greater share of public sector tenders, take advantage of pension funded infrastructure, or benefit from the development schemes unlocked through various mechanisms (Regional Growth Fund, Growing Places Fund, etc).
Topics that are covered by this consultation include;
- The future of your business;
- Government pipelines and contracts;
- Procurement reform;
- Finance for SME’s;
- Stimulating growth in cities & regions;
- Green economy and low carbon;
- BIM;
- The role of SME’s in infrastructure.
The RICS welcomes comments from members in any size of company, on these topics and any other issues that members feel should be considered. If you wish to get involved, need more details, or have any comments to be passed on please contact Chris in our Bristol office, telephone 01179 474380 or e-mail c.caselton@baileyp.co.uk The consultation is open until the end of July and an RICS construction policy paper will be launched by autumn 2012.
