Lewisham Schools Appointments

Bailey Partnership is pleased to announce appointments as Lead Architect, Employers Agent and Cost Consultant for The Pupil Places Programme for the London Borough of LewishamLewisham along with many other Councils throughout the UK are experiencing a large increase in the demand for pupil places at primary level.  Many schools are already oversubscribed with very little additional space or funds to extend buildings to accommodate additional pupils.  Lewisham in conjunction with Bailey Partnership have devised a bespoke modular solution providing a ‘turnkey’ package to schools.

This solution involves providing additional class bases in the most challenging space-restricted sites, extending infrastructure and support buildings such as kitchens and dining halls and refurbishing and remodelling existing school buildings to accommodate expansion in pupil numbers.  In addition to our role as Employers Agent and Cost Consultant we work with Lewisham and the schools as Lead Architect and designers to review all the options available and to provide costed and practical feasibilities and Stage D designs that the school and governors can review and input through to the construction stage.

Last year in the summer of 2011 we completed the first phase of expansion places and procured 18 new class bases along with supporting infrastructure at an approximate cost of £4.5M using an extremely tight window of construction over the summer holiday period.  All the schools involved opened their doors to new pupils at the beginning of the term in September 2011 with many tributes of commendation.

The 2012 programme promises to be even more challenging with a requirement of at least 22 class bases and significant increase in supporting infrastructure with an overall budget of circa. £12M.
