New Student Village opens in Exeter
The first phase of the University of Exeter's additional student accommodation at their Streatham Campus has been completed and handed over at Birks Grange. Bailey Partnership is providing employer's agent and cost consultancy services for the accommodation provider, University Partnerships Programme (UPP).
The completed work is part of a £77 million construction contract being undertaken by Balfour Beatty over three years, with the final phase due for completion in September 2012.
A total of 2000 new student bedrooms are being built at Birks, Duryard and Lafrowda, incorporating UPP's Eco-Residence model. The design uses environmentally friendly techniques which reduce the carbon footprint of each building. The Project achieves a BREEAM “Very Good” rating, and ensures continuous sustainability by incorporating a range of energy and water saving features.
Bailey Partnership has had a long-term relationship with UPP since 1997, undertaking employer's agent, cost consultancy and CDM co-ordination/planning supervision services on University projects across England with a total construction cost in excess of £330 million.
